Privacy notice
In short: this website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services and embeds no social media plugins. Fonts are stored on our own server, so no requests are sent to Google. We process personal data only in a few situations: to run the site technically (server log files), when you email us, when you subscribe to the Slow Blink Letter and when you order from our shop on Gumroad. Shop and Amazon links lead to other services, whose own privacy policies also apply.
1. Controller
Jenny Schwab, CatMind Studio, c/o flexdienst – #21466, Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 74, 67663 Kaiserslautern, Deutschland, kontakt@catmind-studio.de.
Further details are given in our legal notice.
2. Hosting and server log files
This website consists of static HTML pages and is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. As is usual with web hosting, the server automatically records technical data in log files each time a page is requested: your IP address, the date and time of access, the page requested and information about your browser and operating system (user agent).
This data is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure and stable, for example to detect faults or misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are kept only as long as needed for these purposes and then deleted. IONOS processes this data on our behalf as our technical service provider.
3. No cookies, no tracking, local fonts
This website does not set any cookies of its own and does not use analytics, statistics or advertising services. The fonts are stored as files on our server and loaded from there; no connection is made to Google Fonts or any other font provider. No social media content (such as Instagram or Pinterest posts) is embedded.
4. The Slow Blink Letter (newsletter)
The Slow Blink Letter is sent every other week, on Saturday evenings. As a gift for signing up, you can download two free printables right after entering your email address. Signing up also subscribes you to the letter, which you can unsubscribe from at any time with one click.
Sign-up and double opt-in. When you sign up using one of the sign-up forms on this website, your email address is sent directly to our email service provider, Mailchimp. You first receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription (double opt-in). Only then is the letter sent to you. This ensures that nobody can sign up with someone else’s address.
What data is processed. Your email address, and the time and IP address of your sign-up and confirmation. These details serve as proof of your consent. In addition, Mailchimp may, in its default settings, record whether an email was opened and which links in it were clicked (open and click statistics). Where this is active, we use it solely to improve the letter.
Legal basis. Sending the letter and the related statistics are based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Recording your sign-up is based on our legitimate interest in being able to prove your consent (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future, most easily via the unsubscribe link at the end of every email, or by sending a short note to kontakt@catmind-studio.de. Once you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the mailing list. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.
Mailchimp and transfers to the USA. The provider is Intuit Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group LLC d/b/a Mailchimp), Atlanta, USA. Mailchimp processes your data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Data Processing Addendum, Art. 28 GDPR). This involves transferring data to the USA. Intuit Inc. and The Rocket Science Group LLC (Mailchimp) are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. For certified companies, the European Commission has found that an adequate level of data protection exists (adequacy decision of 10 July 2023, Art. 45 GDPR). In addition, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses are incorporated into the data processing agreement; they apply, for example, where a transfer is not covered by the Data Privacy Framework. For more information, see the Intuit/Mailchimp privacy statement.
5. Contact by email
If you write to us at kontakt@catmind-studio.de, we process your email address and the content of your message in order to reply. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your message relates to a contract or steps prior to one, and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the message once it is no longer needed and no statutory retention obligations apply.
6. Shop on Gumroad
Our guides and printables are sold through the Gumroad platform (Gumroad, Inc., San Francisco, USA) at catmindstudio.gumroad.com. When you click a product link, you leave this website and go to Gumroad. No order or payment data is collected on this website itself.
Purchase and payment. According to Gumroad, it acts as the merchant of record, meaning it handles the sale, payment and taxes (such as VAT or sales tax). Gumroad is independently responsible for payment processing, fraud prevention and tax reporting; according to Gumroad, payments are currently processed by Stripe. We do not receive your payment details, such as card numbers. In this respect, Gumroad’s privacy policy applies.
Your order details. Details of your purchase, such as your name, email address and the product bought, are processed by Gumroad on our behalf as our processor; we are the controller for this data. We use these details to fulfil your order and answer questions about it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to meet statutory retention obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). This is governed by Gumroad’s Data Processing Addendum (Art. 28 GDPR), which forms part of its terms of service. For the related transfer to the USA, it includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).
7. Affiliate links (Amazon)
CatMind Studio takes part in the Amazon Associates programme. Some product links in our articles are affiliate links to amazon.com (or amazon.de) and are marked “(ad)”. If you buy something on Amazon after clicking such a link, we receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.
No cookies are set on this website in the process. Only when you follow a link do you reach Amazon. Amazon may set cookies on its own website to recognise that you arrived via our link, and processes your data under its own privacy notice. We receive only aggregated commission reports from Amazon, not any personal data about you.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
8. Links to Instagram and Pinterest
We link to our profiles on Instagram and Pinterest with plain links. Simply visiting this website does not send any data to these networks. Only when you click a link do you reach the provider concerned, whose privacy policy then applies.
9. Your rights
Within the limits set by law, you have the right at any time to
- access the data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- have inaccurate data rectified (Art. 16 GDPR),
- have your data erased (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restrict processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest (Art. 21 GDPR),
- withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
An informal message to kontakt@catmind-studio.de is all it takes.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU member state where you live or work or where the alleged infringement took place. In Germany, you may contact any supervisory authority, for example that of the federal state where you live.
